FutbolNet Programme

Since 2015, Shell and Football Club (FC) Barcelona Foundation worked together and used football to teach children the importance of values. The FutbolNET programme was a 16 weeks football training course for children supported by dedicated female Saudi coaches who were selected and trained by Barcelona Foundation. FutbolNET infuses the five H.E.A.R.T values of Barcelona, Humility, Effort, Ambition, Respect and Teamwork. Which are key morals for the children to develop as happy, healthy and value-adding individuals. This way, football, the world’s most popular sport, became a gateway for new generations of Saudis to face the challenges in the Kingdom’s imminent future.

In 2019, FutbolNET celebrated the hard work the children and coaches had put into all of the 16 weeks of developing and learning while still having fun!

The programme aimed to:

Promote a healthy lifestyle
Promote physical activity
Create opportunities for kids of diverse ages and abilities to participate in physical activity
Transmit values and impact children’s behaviour and school performance positively
Include the community and the environment in the process of educating the participants
